Disability Evaluation

Psychological disability evaluations are a crucial part of determining whether an individual is eligible for certain types of benefits or services. These evaluations are typically conducted by an experienced clinical psychologist who has the necessary training and expertise to assess the individual’s mental health and functioning. The evaluation process involves gathering information from various sources, such as medical records, interviews, psychological tests, and observation. With this information, the evaluator can make a diagnosis and help the appropriate office determine if the individual is eligible for any type of benefit or service.

The evaluation is also used to form a more general assessment of the individual’s mental health status and to provide treatment recommendations when warranted. Dr. Voulgarakis is experienced in conducting evaluations to help individuals with disabilities access services through the New York Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) and the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS).

These evaluations can provide insight into a person’s general functioning, personality, mental status, mental health challenges, and more. The evaluation process involves collecting information from a variety of sources such as interviews, questionnaires and tests to assess the individual’s current mental status.

These evaluations can help diagnose a variety of conditions such as autism, ADHD, PTSD, personality disorders, as well as general functioning and mental status. They can also be used to assess the risk of violence or suicide in individuals who may be at risk. Through these evaluations, clinicians can develop personalized recommendations and treatment plan tailored to the individual needs of each patient.

Health/Pre-Surgical Evaluation

Health Psychology evaluation is a process of evaluating how a person’s behavior, illness and wellness are related to their psychological state. It involves examining the psychological, social, environmental, and biological factors that influence an individual’s health and healing. This evaluation helps to understand the underlying causes of a person’s health-related problems and develop strategies for improving their specific condition or overall wellbeing. It also provides valuable insights into how to better manage illnesses and promote wellness behaviors. With its help, healthcare professionals can better identify the root cause of a patient’s  physical or mental health issue and provide them with effective treatments. The evaluation is used to help develop a comprehensive set of treatment recommendations and an action plan to help you overcome challenges and reach your goals.

Bariatric pre-surgical evaluation is an important part of the pre-surgical process for bariatric surgery. It involves assessing the patient’s physical and psychological health to ensure that they are ready for the procedure. The evaluation also helps to identify any potential risks or complications that may arise during the surgery. Additionally, it helps to assess a person’s readiness to make lifestyle changes and adhere to post-operative care instructions. During this evaluation, psychological health and wellness are evaluated in order to help ensure a successful outcome for the procedure.

Neuropsychological Evaluation

Neuropsychological testing is a comprehensive assessment of a person’s cognitive and social-emotional functioning. It is used to assess learning, memory, cognition, intelligence, academic ability and other psychological processes. Neuropsychological testing can help clinicians identify the root cause of psychological and behavioral symptoms that may be related to a medical condition or neurological disorder. It can also be used to diagnose pediatric disorders such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Neuropsychological tests are also useful for evaluating the effects of traumatic brain injury (TBI) or stroke on someone’s mental abilities and overall functioning. By assessing the individual’s current state and comparing it to their baseline performance, neuropsychological tests can help guide treatment plans and measure treatment efficacy.
